Critical judgment of work in any given field has little value unless it comes from someone who is an expert in that field.

Critical judgment of work in any given field has little value unless it comes from someone who is an expert in that field. This assertion is not supported by facts. Even those in the field of sports, which are considered relatively unskilled in terms of mental acuity, still have their critics. While there are times when an athlete’s team can win or lose based on one person’s play or a coach’s strategy, not every player or coach can be credited with the victory. Even the best baseball players or football players are often criticized by their peers. This criticism may come from coaches who are better players, or from fans that disagree with the team’s strategy. Such criticism may lead to a demotion for an athlete who is not deemed worthy of his team’s success

The bottom line is that critical judgment is necessary in every field. Without the ability to think critically, a person cannot effectively analyze a situation or evaluate a particular subject. Critical judgment can be taught. Some individuals are born with superior intelligence, but with hard work and practice, even average individuals can develop the ability to analyze a situation or solve problems. Critical judgment is an essential skill in academics, business, and life in general

The first reason critical judgment has value is because it helps us to understand the world in which we live. People may make observations and draw conclusions based on their own experiences. However, these observations and conclusions may overlook certain factors that are unique to the situation, such as weather or unusual circumstances that affected the outcome of a particular event or circumstance. Critical judgment allows us to recognize these unique circumstances and make adjustments based on the situation. Once someone becomes more adept at judging situations based on critical judgment, they naturally become better equipped to deal with problems and challenges that arise in everyday life

Secondly, critical judgment helps us to evaluate skills, talents, or abilities that we have. If we are unable to evaluate our own skills objectively, we cannot know whether we are progressing in our current field or if we should continue pursuing a new path. Without the ability to judge ourselves, we cannot know our strengths and our weaknesses. To better judge ourselves, we must know ourselves. People who do not possess critical judgment may over-estimate their abilities or under-estimate their weaknesses. As a result, they become discouraged and may even give up on their goals. This discourages others from following the same path. If someone lacks critical judgment, they may be able to achieve their goals, but they may be unable to advance beyond their current level of success. On the other hand, an individual who possesses critical judgment can continue to grow and develop their abilities and skills

This argument suggests that critical judgment is more valuable in fields such as sports than in others. However, this argument is not correct because sports, like most other professions, require critical judgment to be successful. Without the ability to evaluate our abilities, we cannot become the best athletes or coaches that possible. Without critical judgment, we would not be able to prepare for a game or develop tactics to win the game. Without critical judgment, we would not be able to develop the skills necessary to be an exceptional coach. Critical judgment is more valuable in every field, and without it, we would not be able to succeed.
