It has recently been announced that a new high school may be built in your community. Do you support or oppose this plan? Why?

Use specific reasons and details in your answer.

The question posed above is an interesting one, and in some ways it poses an ethical dilemma. On the one hand, a new stadium is likely going to boost the local economy, leading to more jobs and revenue. On the other hand, many of the students currently enrolled in the school may move to the new high school, meaning that the current students will be displaced, and that some may be forced to find new schools to attend. It is unavoidable that some will be hurt by these changes.

The issue of whether or not a new high school should be built is a dilemma faced by many school districts across the country. However, due to the economic boom that has occurred in many of the current reigning nations, I see little harm in building a new school, especially in light of recent increases in school enrollment. Many districts are having difficulty keeping up with enrollment, and this may result in longer commutes for students and overcrowding. However, the main argument that is put forth by the author of the article is that the new high school may displace some of the current students, causing some hardships for them. In actuality, this concern is overblown. The projections made by the school district show that only 10% of the student body will be displaced, so it is likely that all current students will be able to attend the new high school without major difficulty. Indeed, when the new high school is built, many current students may even have classes at the new school. The projected cost of the new school is $40 million, which is a very small amount to pay for such a valuable resource. Furthermore, the new school will have state of the art facilities, so not only will students be able to learn in a comfortable environment, but they will also attract new students to the high school. Given that the new high school will be located in a booming area, it is likely that it will greatly increase enrollment. Thus, I believe that building a new high school is desirable in the face of these mounting pressures, and that doing so will benefit both students and the local community.
