People have different ways of escaping the stress and difficulties of modern life. Some read; some exercise; others work in their gardens. What do you think are the best ways of reducing stress?
Use specific details and examples in your answer.
Stress is an inevitable but unpleasant part of life, and, as such, must be accepted. However, prolonged stress can lead to serious health problems, even fatal ones. Therefore, it is important for people to find ways to relieve it.
While I agree that stress is a part of life, I also believe that there are many ways to reduce it. My answer will first examine the best methods of relieving stress, and then discuss the pros and cons of each.
The first and most obvious method of relieving stress is to seek some kind of relaxation. Though this may seem like a cop-out, there are several reasons why this is a good idea. The first, as was mentioned above, is that stress can lead to serious health problems, such as high blood pressure, depression, and even heart disease. Thus, it is important to prevent stress from getting worse. Furthermore, stress can be a major cause of burnout, and thus, it is important to find ways to eliminate it. While relaxation cannot be done instantly, it is undoubtedly the best way to relieve one’s stress. It can be as simple as taking a five minute break from work or watching a comedy on television. There are countless ways to relax and unwind, and there is certainly no shortage of information on the internet about each method. This will make it easier to find a method that one feels comfortable with, and will help combat the problem that stress is so common that almost everyone is likely to suffer from it at some point in their lives.
Another method of reducing stress is to exercise. Exercise is widely considered a great way to relieve stress, and there are many studies that back up this claim. For example, one study involved a group of elderly individuals, half of whom exercised regularly and the other half of whom did not. The group that exercised regularly experienced a reduction in their stress levels while the group that did not experienced no change in stress levels. Additionally, another study found that regular exercise can help alleviate the symptoms of a number of mental conditions, including depression, anxiety, and even ADHD. Furthermore, exercise can also help improve a person’s general health, and may even help to prevent ailments such as cancer, heart disease, and arthritis. As was mentioned above, stress can cause people to develop health problems, and exercising can help them avoid that. There are countless types of exercise, including running, weight lifting, and yoga. However, some types of exercise, such as running, can cause people to become overheated, making exercise unpleasant. Therefore, it is important to find a form of exercise that is enjoyable, or else people will not want to do it.
Another method of reducing stress is to work one’s garden. Many people enjoy working in their gardens and can attest to its therapeutic effects. Indeed, many therapists utilize gardening as a source of stress relief for their patients. Gardening requires a great deal of concentration, and for this reason it can provide people with a welcome distraction. Additionally, gardening requires one to plan and work in various stages of plant growth. This means that gardening requires one to stay organized and to plan ahead, both of which are important skills to have. Furthermore, working one’s garden can provide one with a sense of pride, which can be especially rewarding in difficult situations. However, working one’s garden should not be undertaken lightly; it can be very time-consuming, and, depending on the amount of work one wants to do, can be expensive. Thus, it should only be done as a supplement to other methods, such as taking a walk or watching a film.
The best method of relieving stress is, in my opinion, a combination of all three methods. While relaxation is absolutely necessary, it is not sufficient, as some people will be unable to relax. Additionally, exercise can help to relieve some kinds of stress, but it cannot eliminate it entirely, and, as noted above, some people may not like certain types of exercise. Therefore, it is important to find a combination of activities that one enjoys, and that effectively reduce stress.
