Corporations exist to make a profit. While some people may argue that corporations have a responsibility to promote the welfare of the societies and environments in which they operate, these arguments tend to ignore the fact that corporations are profit-driven enterprises, and can only exist as long as there is profit. Therefore, corporations are more apt to be beneficial to society and the environment only for as long as there is profit to be made. This is the view I favor.
